Education
Only a small part of the population today (about 2%) are involved in the commercial growing of all of our food in North America. Of this small number, only a much smaller fraction currently work within an organic or ecologically-oriented framework or with more regenerative approaches such as biodynamics or permaculture practices. We are encouraged where and whenever we see home gardeners and bakers who practice their skills for themselves and share with those around them.
As so many changes have been happening across the world in the last several years, lots of people have been re-inspired to plant gardens to grow their own healthy food, and do more baking! This has been something to celebrate, and we aim to support this learning through our work, to help build more resilient communities now and in the years to come. In our farm location on Manitoulin education was central to our work, and we would love to find a location for continuing education work in Northumberland.
